Roofing Contractor In Nassau County, NY
We work out of Nassau County itself, not from somewhere east of it rather than driving in from somewhere east of it. That shapes what we can actually promise. Most Nassau addresses are a short run, not a trip, and when something needs looking at again in year four you are calling the same building.
We repair, replace and maintain roofs from Long Beach and Island Park up through Hempstead, North Hempstead, Oyster Bay and Glen Cove. Every estimate is written, itemized and photographed, and financing is available up to 100% of project cost, subject to credit approval.

Four Roofing Issues We See Across Nassau County
Salt air on the South Shore, wind off the Sound in the north, and a great deal of housing built inside the same twenty-year window. These four account for most of the calls our crews run in Nassau.
Leaks at valleys, chimneys and skylights
Nassau’s older capes and colonials leak at the details long before the field shingles wear out. Surface patching hides it for a season, then it comes back in the same spot. The repair that lasts means opening the detail up and finding where water is actually entering, which is frequently two feet from where it shows on the ceiling.
Wind and storm damage
Nor’easters and coastal gusts lift shingle tabs and tear ridge caps on exposed South Shore and North Shore roofs. The damage that matters is often invisible from the ground, because lifted tabs reseal in the sun while the seal underneath stays broken. We tarp quickly, photograph everything for your insurer, and repair properly once the weather clears.
Ice dams and poor ventilation
Under-vented attics and thin insulation back water up under the shingles every winter. Worth saying plainly: on a fair number of these the roof is fine, and the real fix is attic insulation and intake venting. If that is your situation we will tell you, and insulation work is a different trade than ours.
Aging roofs over soft decking
Twenty-plus-year-old three-tab roofs over original plank sheathing are common here. Once the decking has gone soft, a replacement costs less than another two rounds of repairs. We will walk you to the soft spots and let you feel them underfoot before you decide anything.
The six house types we work on most in Nassau
Nassau was built in waves, and each wave left its own roofing problem behind. Knowing which era a house comes from tells us most of what we will find before we get on the ladder.
The Postwar Cape
Levittown, Hicksville, Massapequa, Bethpage
Built in the tens of thousands within a few years of each other, which is why whole streets need replacing at once rather than one house at a time. Almost all of them have been extended since, and the extension is where the trouble usually sits.
What we look for
The low-slope section over a dormer or rear addition, where shingles were laid on a pitch too shallow to shed water. That section needs a membrane, not shingles, and it is the most common leak we find on a cape.
The Ranch
Oceanside, Baldwin, Wantagh, Seaford, Merrick
Long, simple rooflines with wide eaves and a single story below. Straightforward roofs to work on, and usually the fastest replacements we do. Most are now on their second or third roof.
What we look for
Soffit vents painted shut or stuffed with insulation. Ranches have a lot of eave relative to roof area, so blocked intake starves the attic quickly and cooks the shingles from underneath.
The Split Level
Merrick, Bellmore, Plainview, Syosset, East Meadow
Two or three roof planes at different heights, joined by short walls. More interesting to look at than a ranch, and considerably more places for water to get in.
What we look for
The step flashing where the lower roof meets the upper wall. Reused or caulked flashing at that junction is the single most common leak on a split level, and it is nearly always fixable properly during a replacement.
The Colonial
Garden City, Rockville Centre, Mineola, Westbury, Floral Park
Two full stories, steeper pitch, and usually a chimney and one or two dormers. Steeper roofs shed water well and last longer, but they need staging and take more hours per square than a ranch of the same size.
What we look for
The chimney. Older Nassau colonials often have no cricket behind a wide chimney, so debris and water sit against the masonry and eventually go through. That gets built properly on a replacement.
Tudors and Older Estates
Great Neck, Manhasset, Port Washington, Glen Cove, Roslyn
Steep, complicated rooflines with multiple gables, turrets, dormers and chimneys. Many still carry their original slate or clay tile, and a good deal of that material has plenty of life left in it.
What we look for
Whether the slate actually needs replacing. Often the slate is sound and the flashing, valleys or hooks have failed. A slate roof condemned early is usually a sales decision rather than a structural one.
Raised and Rebuilt Homes
Island Park, Long Beach, Freeport, East Rockaway, Oceanside
Houses lifted or rebuilt after Sandy, often with new framing under an older roof or a new roof over altered framing. Some of the work was excellent and some was done at speed during a very busy few years.
What we look for
The transitions. Where new construction meets original structure, the flashing and the ventilation path were frequently the last things thought about, and both show up as leaks or premature aging later.
None of this is guesswork on the day. Knowing the era tells us what to look for, but the estimate is still built from what is actually up there. We photograph the decking, the flashing and the attic on every Nassau house before anything is priced, and you keep those photographs whether or not you hire us. Take them to two other contractors if you want a second read. A roof is a large purchase and comparing quotes is a reasonable thing to do.
I grew up on the South Shore and I have been on Nassau roofs for thirty years, which means I have been back to a lot of them twice. That changes how you price work. When you know you will be driving past a house for the next decade, you do not cut the flashing short to make a number look better.
The other thing about working in one county this long is that you stop guessing. Somebody tells me they have a cape in Levittown with a stain over the back bedroom, and I already know I am looking at that low-slope addition before I get out of the truck. I still get up there and check, because the house always has the final say. But I am rarely surprised.
If I put a number on your estimate, that is the number you pay. And if something goes wrong in year six, you are calling the same office on Main Street that installed it.

Grouped by where they sit rather than alphabetically, because the part of the county a house is in tells you more about its roof than its name does. If your town is not listed, it is almost certainly still in range. Call and give us the address.

Two-Layer Tear-Off On A 1952 Cape In Rockville Centre
The homeowner called us in October after patching the same rear slope three times in four years. Two different contractors had been out before us, both had sealed the area above the stain, and both times it stayed dry until the following spring.
Our inspection found why. Two layers of shingle sitting on original plank sheathing, a valley that had rusted through where the rear addition met the main roof, and no ridge ventilation at all. The attic had soffit vents, but the insulation had been pushed over them at some point and they had not moved air in years. Water was entering at the failed valley, running along a rafter, and dropping through the ceiling several feet from where anyone had been patching.
We stripped both layers, replaced 14 sheets of decking where the sheathing had softened around the valley, ran ice and water shield across the eaves and through both valleys, cut in a continuous ridge vent, and opened the soffit intake back up. GAF Timberline HDZ went on with the full accessory package so the warranty registered properly.
Two days on site. The homeowner’s insurance covered part of the interior ceiling repair and we provided the photographs and scope their adjuster worked from. No change orders, because the decking was priced per sheet before we started and she knew what 14 sheets would cost before the first one came off.

Questions Nassau Homeowners Ask Us
Permits, insurance, salt air and Sandy rebuilds. If your question is not here, call the office and ask.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Nassau County?
Usually yes for a full tear-off, and who issues it depends on your exact address rather than your mailing town. Nassau contains 2 cities, 3 towns and 64 incorporated villages, each with its own building department and its own requirements. We identify the right jurisdiction, pull the permit and handle the inspection sign-off as part of the job.
How much does a new roof cost in Nassau County?
Cost is driven by roof area in squares, how many existing layers come off, pitch, how much decking is rotted, and the permit fee for your village. A steep Garden City colonial and a Levittown cape of similar square footage are not similar jobs
How fast can you get to a leak in Nassau County?
We answer the phone 24/7 and we work from inside the county so most Nassau addresses are a short run rather than a trip from elsewhere. Emergency tarping is usually same day for active leaks.
Will you work with my insurance company after a storm?
Yes. We photograph and document damage before anything is touched, provide an itemized scope your adjuster can work from, and meet the adjuster on site when that helps. Being straight with you: not every claim gets approved, and wind damage on a roof already past its service life is frequently denied as wear rather than storm damage.
Does salt air on the South Shore change what you install?
It changes the metal, not the shingle. In Long Beach, Island Park, Atlantic Beach and the barrier-side blocks of Freeport and Oceanside, we specify corrosion-resistant flashing, fasteners and drip edge, because standard galvanized components rust out years early that close to the water. A few miles inland it stops mattering much.
My house was raised after Sandy. Does that change the roof job?
Often yes. On lifted and rebuilt homes we pay particular attention to where new framing meets original structure, because flashing and attic ventilation at those transitions were frequently rushed during the rebuild years. Sometimes the roof covering is fine and the actual problem is a ventilation path that was never completed.
Why do my neighbors all seem to need roofs at the same time?
Because they were built at the same time. Levittown, Hicksville, Massapequa and Bethpage went up in the tens of thousands within a few years of each other, so whole streets reach end of life together. It is worth getting yours looked at when the block starts going, though a neighbor’s roof failing is a reason to check rather than a reason to assume.
