GAF re-audits our certification every twelve months
Bluemaster Roofing works out of Nassau County, not an hour east of it. That is a deliberate choice and it shapes how the business runs. When a homeowner in Oceanside calls about a leak, we are not routing the job to whoever is nearest. We are twelve minutes away.
We cover Nassau, Suffolk and Queens, and we install six roofing systems: shingle, standing seam metal, flat and low-slope membrane, cedar, slate and solar. Residential work makes up most of what we do, and we take on commercial buildings where the roof is flat or low-slope, which is most of them.
What we do not do is subcontract. Every crew on every job is on our payroll. That is unusual enough in this trade that it is worth stating plainly rather than burying in a bullet list.
The thing that actually distinguishes us is smaller and less glamorous than any of that: everything gets photographed, and everything gets written down. Before the quote, and again when the job is finished. A roof is one of the few large purchases where the buyer never sees what they bought, because it is thirty feet up and covered over by the time anyone could look. We decided early that we would rather hand people the evidence than ask them to take our word for it.
Owner and lead estimator, 30 years of local Long Island field experience
Izzy started on roofs at an age when most people are still deciding what they want to do. Thirty years on, he has worked for several roofing companies across Long Island before starting this one, which turns out to matter more than it sounds.
Working under other people’s names for that long teaches you two things. The first is the trade itself: how a cape in Levittown fails in a completely different place than a waterfront colonial in Bay Shore, and why the roof somebody rushed ten years ago is almost always the one leaking now. The second is everything a roofing company can get wrong. Corners taken because the crew was behind schedule. Decking priced after the tear-off rather than before. Quotes written by salespeople who had never been on a ladder. Warranties promised by companies that would not exist long enough to honor them.
The certification is the checkable part. GAF does not grant Master Elite to a new name on a truck. They verify documented years of work, current licensing, liability coverage and customer history before granting it, then review the whole file again every twelve months. Roughly the top 2% of contractors nationwide hold it. You can search for us on GAF’s own site in under a minute, which is the point of mentioning it at all.
CEO & Founder Bluemaster Roofing
The crew is ours. Everyone on your roof is on our payroll. Not a phone list of subs assembled the morning of your tear-off.
That matters for a reason most homeowners find out the hard way. Subcontracted crews are paid to finish, not to finish properly, and they are gone before anything shows. A crew that works under one name every day carries the consequences of a bad valley or a rushed flashing detail, because they are the ones coming back to it.
It also matters for the warranty. Manufacturer-backed coverage depends on the roof being installed to specification, which means trained crews installing the same system the same way every time. That is one of the conditions GAF checks when they audit our certification, and it is not something you can outsource.
Practically, it means we can run several jobs at once without any of them being handed to strangers. It also means the person who priced your roof knows the people installing it by name.
Crew on our own payroll
Most roofing companies inspect once, before they quote. We inspect twice, and the second one is the one that matters.

We get on the roof and into the attic, and photograph every finding. You receive that file whether or not you hire us, because it is your house and the information belongs to you.
We do it again. Same positions, same checklist, same camera angles. Then we walk the property with you, hand over the comparison, and register your warranty with the manufacturer.
The reason is simple. Once a roof is closed up, a homeowner has no way of knowing whether the ice and water shield went down properly, whether the ventilation was corrected, or whether the bad decking was actually replaced. The post-installation report is how you find out, in writing, with photographs, rather than trusting that it happened.
Nobody asks us for it. We do it because we would want it on our own house.
Roughly the top 2% of roofing contractors in North America hold Master Elite standing. It is what allows us to register GAF’s longest system warranties against your address, and GAF re-audits it annually rather than granting it once.
Formal recognition from the manufacturer that our crews install GAF roofing systems to specification, which is the condition every GAF warranty rests on. A warranty on a roof installed outside specification is a piece of paper.
Our commercial flat roofing team is trained by Carlisle on their TPO and EPDM single-ply systems. This training applies to commercial flat roofing work only, and it is what their manufacturer warranty depends on.
Three counties, one crew. Pick your county to see the towns we cover and what the roofs are like there.
Freeport, Mineola, Lynbrook, Hicksville and the rest of the South and North Shore. Older suburban stock, salt air near the water, and a building department in nearly every village.
Bay Shore, Smithtown, Patchogue, Stony Brook, Commack and across the towns. Bigger lots, heavier shade on north slopes, and the highest wind exposure once you head east.
Bayside, Maspeth, Glendale, Rockaway Beach and Broad Channel, under NYC rules. Mostly low-slope work on attached houses, with drainage and parapets doing most of the damage.
Each installed the way the manufacturer specifies, because that is what keeps the warranty valid. Tell us what your roof is doing and we will tell you honestly whether it needs a repair, a section, or a full replacement.
The right answer for most Long Island homes, and what most roofs here already are. We install GAF architectural shingles with a high-wind nailing pattern, upgraded starter course, and balanced intake and exhaust ventilation. Specified that way, this is the system that carries fifty transferable years.
Common through Huntington, Northport and out east, and unforgiving when installed wrong. Cedar has to breathe from underneath or it cups, splits and releases its own fasteners. We install over a ventilated underlayment with stainless nails, so the shakes outlast the metal holding them down.
Aluminum standing seam, which is what we recommend near open water. Salt air attacks steel fasteners and coatings long before the panels themselves wear out, so the roof fails at its weakest metal. Aluminum sidesteps that, and carries fifty years on material.
Garden City, Great Neck, Roslyn and Forest Hills Gardens still hold a lot of original slate, and most of it is repairable. Before anyone quotes a tear-off, the decking, flashing and slate hooks need looking at. A slate roof condemned early is usually a sales decision, not a structural one.
Nearly every Long Island house has a low-slope section somewhere. A dormer, a porch roof, a rear extension where shingles were never appropriate and have been quietly failing for years. We install GAF Liberty on residential work and Carlisle TPO or EPDM on commercial. Ponding water is a pitch problem, not a patching problem.
Free inspection, photographs of every finding, and written line-item pricing before anything is agreed. We file the permit, whether that is your village, your town, or NYC DOB. Financing available up to 100% of project cost, subject to credit approval. Bluemaster Roofing covers Nassau, Suffolk and Queens.
